The tradition of 'something borrowed' is to represent to the bride that friends and family will be there on her special day and in the future when help is needed. 'Borrowing' should ideally come from a happily married woman, thereby lending the bride some of her own marital happiness to carry into the new marriage.

Ask your Mum, Grandma, a female family member or a friend if you could borrow something they wore on their wedding day. This sometimes starts a family tradition and creates an heirloom.

Just remember to return the item after the wedding. Otherwise it's called stealing!
